Authorities at major Swedish firm Oriflame Cosmetics are furious over Iran shutting down its pyramidal network in the country.

While reacting to the closure of its centers in Iran, Oriflame has expressed hope it will be able to continue selling its products in the Iranian market, reported Fars News Agency.

Meantime, the company has acknowledged that it earned €5.5 million from sales in Iran in the second quarter of 2010 alone.

A top executive at the firm which has lost a lucrative market in the Middle East says he does not know why the Iranian Judiciary has ordered the closure.

Oriflame had established a vast pyramidal network in Iran under the guise of selling cosmetics, making huge profits.

Oriflame had turned Iran into its biggest market in the Middle East.

It reportedly had some 40 thousand members in Iran.
