mam Hasan al-Askari (عليه السلام) was not merely the Imam who lived under surveillance, surrounded by enemies who feared his very existence, he was the Imam who prepared a generation for something far more difficult the time when the Hujjah of Allah would no longer be visible to them.
The Abbasid authorities feared the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (عج) so intensely that his existence had to be protected and revealed only through trusted companions. Yet Imam al-Askari (a.s) quietly established the reality of his son's Imamate and prepared his followers for the coming period of Ghaybah.
His greatest victory was therefore not fought with a sword it was fought in the hearts of believers. He taught them that guidance is not measured by what the eyes can see, and that Wilayah does not disappear simply because the Imam is hidden from sight.
Perhaps this is the deepest lesson of Imam Hasan al-Askari (a.s) Allah does not always test you by taking guidance away sometimes He tests whether you can recognize and remain loyal to His guidance when your eyes cannot see it.
