Due to a rise in doubt it was suggested that a forum about mehndi and its permissibility should be started.so here it is!
To start off things, is applying mehndi allowed for unmarried girls? (With references or Logic)

for married and unmarried....the ruling would be the same

if mehndi is seen as a decoration that attracts attention then it would be haraam to show it in the presence of na mahrams. hence one can apply it but will have to cover it whenever in the presence of namahrams.

I think on the side of women the primary use is decorating (zeenat) and hence hijab becomes essential.

On the mens side I have heard of riwayat that makes is sunat...but not in styles...on the nails or as a round spot on the palm. Am not very sure though
