A mere piece of clothing has been creating turmoil all around the world. I cant help but wonder, what threat does this simple way of dress pose to those who oppose it...and what does hijab mean to women?

A hijab is a religious veil worn by Muslim women in the presence of any male outside of their immediate family, which usually covers the hair, head and chest. Any hair, head, face, or body covering worn by Muslim women that complies with Islamic modesty standards is referred to as hijab.

Hijab can also refer to women's separation from men in public spaces, or it can refer to a spiritual dimension, such as "the veil that separates man, or the earth, from God."

The Qur'an instructs Muslim women to dress modestly. Some Islamic legal systems define this type of modest clothing as covering everything except the face and hands up to the wrists.

A woman who wears hijab liberates herself from the vein and selfish desire to show off her beauty and to compete with other women around her.
