“A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words”

On the occasion of the First Anniversary of ShiaSisters.net, ShiaSisters.net is launching its first ever art contest. Members are encouraged to submit artwork depicting the theme
“A girl wearing hijab is normal"

Contest Entry Rules

1. Contestant must be member of ShiaSisters.net or become one upon entering the art contest.

2. All entries must be on a flat medium no larger than 8.5" X 11". Entries can be any form of artwork, either hand drawn or drawn on the computer. Digital photographs will also be accepted. All artwork not made on the computer will have to be scanned or photographed and e-mailed to azra [at] shiasisters.net (Please note drawings look better on the computer if they have strong colors and heavy lines.) Only One Entry per member is allowed.

3. There will be three age categories of submission:

A Ages 9 – 12
B Ages 13 – 18
C Ages 18 plus

4. All participants must include the following information when submitting their artwork:

Contestant's First and Last Name
Home Address
Home Phone Number
E-Mail Address
(make sure you give us another e-mail address + the shiasisters.net e-mail address)
Age Category


5. The theme words “A girl wearing hijab is normal” DO NOT need to be included in the artwork. Any other statement depicting the idea is encouraged.

Please note:
*Each entry must be the original work. It may not contain copyrighted material unless permission has been granted for its use. Use of copyrighted material without permission automatically disqualifies the entry. You are welcome to use the ShiaSisters.net logo.

*Entry to this contest results in the automatic submission to the rules and the decisions of the judges and http://www.ShiaSisters.net. The copyright to all entries will belong to ShiaSisters.Net. The artist's name and art may be used in any promotions, publications, or exhibitions carried out by ShiaSisters.Net. Entries may not be reclaimed.

*Use of any inappropriate LANGUAGE will automatically disqualify the entry.

ENTRY DEADLINE

All entries MUST be received by May 1, 2008. You will be notified of receipt of entry by means of a confirmation e-mail.
WINNERS!

ShiaSisters.net will select 1 grand prize winner from each age category.

Depending on the number of entries, ShiaSisters.net may also choose one 2nd and 3rd place winner each, and several honorable mentions.

The Winners will be notified by e-mail and their names/entries will be displayed the website under COOL STUFF on May 7, 2008 and an e-mail will be sent to them. Their prize will be mailed directly to their mailing address.

All participants will receive a consolation prize.

HOW YOUR ENTRY WILL BE JUDGED

Entries will be judged on their ability to clearly and creatively communicate the theme.
The ideal entries will reflect the true meaning of the theme without criticizing and or putting down any other entity.

(Please Be Aware: Membership to ShiaSisters.net and entry to the contest is for SISTERS ONLY. Brothers should have fear of Allah and the Day of Judgment and refrain from entering the contest posing as sisters).
