Cellular phone company, Celtel Tanzania has introduced a new service that allows its customers text messages (sms) from the internet to mobile phones.

The service, Celtel Web2SMS will allow customers to access their accounts through the internet and give them access to send SMSes by using their computers.

Commenting on the new service Ms. Hellen Michael, Celtel Tanzania Marketing Manager said:

"Web2SMS is a very simple and convenient service. All a customer needs is a computer which is connected to the internet then log into web2sms.tz.celtel.com and afterwards follows the instructions and access the service."

Web2SMS service has many advantages to the consumer including the ability to send SMS out of the country as well as to international numbers and one can use the service even if their phone is off.

There are 13 other African countries under the Celtel International brand.
