Ask

I sent the following question to the office of Sayyid Sistani (may Allah protect him):

In the fashion industry, fashion designers design trendy and fashionable clothes which are then showcased in a fashion event where male and female models wear these clothes and walk along a ramp or stage making poses and stops to display the designs. The clothes worn by the lady models are usually very revealing.

Is it permissible:
1. To design clothes for such an event
2. To organize such an event
3. To accept sponsorship of an alcohol company for the event and allow the event to be used to promote alcohol, even without monetary benefit
4. To attend such an event (mixed gathering, music, scantily dressed women dancing etc)

I got the following answers:


1- If it is considered to be a way of promoting promiscuity and evil, it is not permissible.

2- It is not permissible.

3- It is not permissible.

4- It is not permissible.

So this confirms it then.
