Tomorrow, 13 June 2010, the DSM Jamaat AGM will be held along with elections of office bearers.
Apart from the individual candidates, two presidential candidates have presented themselves for election, namely:
1. Naushadbhai Dossa
2. Shirazbhai Walji
We unfortunately do not have a system where the candidates can officially interact with the public by taking questions on how they will tackle issues. So, currently everyone votes/takes a side based on his understanding and belief of who will be a better leader.
An election is perhaps the one time the average member of the jamaat has to exercise his choice and make a decision on whom to give his valuable vote too. After the election practically all decisions are taken by the elected office bearers and their appointees.
This has over the past years resulted in many shying away from voting as it seems to be a futile exercise.
Hence this seems to be a right time to remind us of the qualities of a leader that our beloved Imam Ali (AS) clearly outlined. This reminder I hope will rejuvenate the readers to go and vote for the candidate who best fits the description of the Imam (AS).
Find in the post below, the speech of Imam (AS). I have taken the liberty to highlight certain portions that I feel need special attention:

- Watch 'The Mukhtar Narrative / Mukhtar Nama' on Ask - a series narrating Mukhtar al-Thaqafi's revenge for Karbala.
- Watch 'The life of the Father of Chemistry, Jabir ibn Hayyan'
