Dear Doc,

Can a person who is thalasemic (minor) take centrum vitamins which include ion?
#18298
Ideally, a person with thalassemia minor should only take iron tablets when the levels of iron in blood are low, as it may lead to a condition called "iron overload".

Iron levels in the blood can be checked, and most hospitals do the test.

Having said that, the amount of iron in centrum is not very high and therefore should not pose a risk if the person takes it.
