Hello
I would like to ask what anti biotics r safe and minimum to take for an expectant mother
With upper respiratory infection (to be precise throat infection)

There are some antibiotics which are not supposed to be used during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester.

Otherwise for a typical bacterial upper respiratory infection, the normally prescribed antibiotics are fairly safe. These include Penicllins (e.g. amoxycillin etc.) and the Azithromycin group (Azithral/Azicure). Do note that most upper respiratory tract infections are viral and therefore do not need antibiotics. Proper fluid intakes, good diet and enough rest are usually enough to get rid of the bugs.

But it is better to avoid unnecessary medications at any time during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
