Can we work in a bank as a Teller position?? Below are the job responsibilities of a Teller in a Bank:

An excellent teller processes between 20-25 customer transactions each hour with no mistakes through patience, attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures. Can Muslims work in a bank as a teller position in the west?...below is the job description!!

Job Tasks for: "Teller"
Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at ends of shifts, and calculate daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines.

Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.

Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, and check accuracy of deposit slips.

Examine checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents.

Enter customers' transactions into computers in order to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.

Count currency, coins, and checks received, by hand or using currency-counting machine, in order to prepare them for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.

Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.

Prepare and verify cashier's checks.

Arrange monies received in cash boxes and coin dispensers according to denomination.

Process transactions such as term deposits, retirement savings plan contributions, automated teller transactions, night deposits, and mail deposits.

Receive mortgage, loan, or public utility bill payments, verifying payment dates and amounts due.

Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning customers' accounts.

Explain, promote, or sell products or services such as travelers' checks, savings bonds, money orders, and cashier's checks, using computerized information about customers to tailor recommendations.

Perform clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and microfilm photography.

Monitor bank vaults to ensure cash balances are correct.

Order a supply of cash to meet daily needs.

Sort and file deposit slips and checks.

Receive and count daily inventories of cash, drafts, and travelers' checks.

Process and maintain records of customer loans.

Count, verify, and post armored car deposits.

Carry out special services for customers, such as ordering bank cards and checks.

Compute financial fees, interest, and service charges.

Obtain and process information required for the provision of services, such as opening accounts, savings plans, and purchasing bonds.

Compose, type, and mail customer statements and other correspondence related to issues such as discrepancies and outstanding unpaid items.

Issue checks to bond owners in settlement of transactions.

Inform customers about foreign currency regulations, and compute transaction fees for currency exchanges.

Quote unit exchange rates, following daily international rate sheets or computer displays.

This is my opinion and should not be taken as an answer from an aalim.

Sh. Razi is currently traveling and therefore will answer once he is back.

I think there are two things you should consider:

1. The salary should be derived solely from other income (not interest income). I believe this can be agreed in the contract. You can also agree on not being involved in the dept. of the bank which deals with interest.

2. Zionism. This is arbitrary. How much support does zionism derive from, say tax payers money in USA vs how necessary is the job etc. I am no authority on this so do take an aalims opinion

salaaam un allaikum wr wb
bank jobs has tow type: if these all activities are related with that policies and contracts who are jaiz and legal according to shariya those jobs are jaiz and wages are also halal for them (for exemple they are working in non muslims banks and offering the program which is beneficial for costumer even with interest it jaiz and wages is also halal )
2nd if these activities are related with haram interest and other policies which is promoting haram thinks these jobs are not jaiz and wages are also not halal (like interest between Muslim and advertisement of haram things according to shariya these jobs are haram and wages are also not halal)
