Divine Tradition

Postby Muntazir » 12 Dec 2010, 08:54

In the name of al-Hakeem.

Divine tradition is a pure spring in the land of life, through which people can quench their thirsty soul, find the right path in the light of divine words, and be prosperous under the shade of the unique gems of creation.

It is the words of 'Allah, which are quoted by the holy Prophet [s.'a.w.w] and immaculate Imams ['a.s].

Sayyid Sharif Jorjani, in his lexicon at-Ta'rifat says: "A divine tradition is, as to the meaning, from Almighty 'Allah; as to the wording, from the Messenger of 'Allah [s.'a.w.w].

A divine tradition is that which 'Allah has communicated to His Prophet [s.'a.w.w] through revelation or in a dream, and the Prophet [s.'a.w.w] has communicated it in his own words. Thus, the holy Qur'an is superior to it, because besides being revealed, it is His own wording."

According to this definition, the difference between divine traditions and the holy Qur'an is clear. It is also obvious that unlike divine traditions, the holy Qur'an was sent down as a miracle for verifying the prophecy of the Messenger of 'Allah [s.'a.w.w].

Since divine traditions are expressed in the Prophet's [s.'a.w.w] words, we should make our hearts ready for welcoming the light of these divine traditions so that our life becomes filled with the gems of wisdom.

Keep us in your prayers.
